I just bought a new house with well water. We are having a problem with iron in our water and it’s dying everything yellow. We have a cheap aqua pure whole house water filter and I was thinking the most cost effective way to help this problem would be to buy another cheap filter. My quetion is can you have two water filters or will it slow down the flow of water or cause any other problems?

My daughter just purchased an 18 year old home with a Teledyne Instapure IP20 Whole House water filter. I am looking for the replacement filter but cannot find the IR20. Is there amother brand that carries this size filter?
I spend to replace the carbon filter on my water filter/pitcher every few months. Would the activated carbon used by home distillers be as good an option to filter my water? The exact brand I’m thinking about is Prestige stone activated carbon (.4-1.4mm), and I would be running it through a coffee filter in the existing housing on my water pitcher.
Can any chemists – amateur or professional – tell me if this would be a good or bad idea?
filtering water for home use and drinking
I want to use the discharge water to water my lawn and garden. Can I connect regular lawn sprinklers to that line without harming the water filter from any back pressure?
I have housing ready to come out ,but can’t figure out how to "unplug" water lines.
I have a blue long water filter under my house that needs to be changed i called a plumbing company and they wanted to charge me 5 "WTF" Im pretty thrifty so i want to try and change it myself. Ive tried to change it before but i could not unscrew it out of its base. What i need to know is how do i unscrew it because i think if i can take it out then i can change it, thanks in advance.
(That link seems to be pretty helpful but mine should be easier to install right? Because it just needs changing out.
I just bought a house with a relatively new stainless frigidaire refrigerator. I noticed the water flow from the dispenser was pretty slow, so I replaced the filter with a new one. Now there is no flow from the dispenser and water is leaking from the filter housing. I put some teflon tape on the threads of the filter housing, but there is still no water flow from the dispenser. I tried putting the old filter back in and there still isn’t any flow. Anyone know whats going on and how I can fix it? (And yes, I’m sure I’m using the correct filter.)
does it make a diference if you use tap, bottled, conditioned, distilledor filtered water on your house plants?
It has been 6 months since I changed it which it recommends and the filter was a dark copper color and the water on the outside of the filter was black. I did go a little over the time it was to change the filter and my water in the house was coming out clear but is this normal? For the filter to be that dark? I use this water for drinking.
The filter is designed to just take out sediment and is made for a 5 person household but there are only two people on the house.
well all bottled water is. is filtered tap water
i was wondering about the omnihousewatersystem house filter we just moved where our water is from a well right now the water smells so bad coming out of the taps i can barely shower i wont even do my dishes in it i noticed outside attached to the well there are two cylinders that say omni house but there is no filter inside them and they have brown algae looking stuff in them i was wondering where to get filters how much they cost and if that filtration system is meant for wells
I’ve noticed that the water in my house is drying out my eyes, skin, and hair as if I had been swimming all day.
I’m looking at installing one on my house and am just wondering if it will make a difference. Are they expensive to maintain? Should I test my water first? Did you notice a difference after they installed theirs? Anybody got a product review?
Any info much appreciated!
I have a GE filter I installed on my house cold water line. It was fine until I installed a filter that didn’t really fit & I think it let sediment get up into the pressure valve. Now I have put in the correct filter but water leaks out of the pressure valve unless I have it on bypass. I don’t know what to do – maybe replace the whole unit with a new one? GE 800 number is useless.
I am looking at a Pelican Whole house water filter, and Iron Filter for my house to install myself, already had the water tested and this is the set up I need, I found Pelican on the net, and I was wondering if anybody else had one, and if they were satisfied? Or if anybody else new of a different system?
I have an old water softener from a previous house. My new house needs a whole house charcoal filter. Can I change out the softener media for activated charcoal and use the same filter for whole house removal of taste etc.? If so, what steps are required?
Thanks for offering your experience. RO really won’t work for me because of my water volume. Am hoping to be able to exchange the media for charcoal in a traditional softener.
